INTL WOMEN'S DAY STRIKE 4 CHOICE : LONDON-IRISH ABORTION RIGHTS CAMPAIGN

  • Wellington Memorial (Meeting point) London W1J 7JZ

Join the London-Irish Abortion Rights Campaign on International Womens' Day, Wednesday 8th March, for an act of solidarity with our Irish sisters across the sea, both North and South of the border.

We’ll be gathering together at 1pm at by the Wellington Memorial (by Hyde Park Corner tube) to walk together to the Irish Embassy. Once there we will read out an extract from a speeches by Constance Markievicz and other Irish women

The Strike4Choice is a direct action in solidarity with Strike4Repeal that will take place on the 8th March 2017. Our demand is that the Irish government call a referendum to repeal the 8th Amendment by the 8th of March. If not, we will strike.

This strike is based on non-traditional strike actions for human rights that we have witnessed in other parts of the world. In October of last year, thousands of people in more than 60 cities in Poland went on strike to protect their access to abortion, and won.

We stand in solidarity with the women of Ireland, North and South of the border who need access to free, safe, legal abortion.

Wear black.
